Tiawichi Research is located near Kilgore/Longview, Texas (about two hours east of Dallas on I-20 and 1 hour west of Shreveport, LA. Tiawichi creek is located approximately a mile south of our office. From The Handbook of Texas Online:
TIAWICHI CREEK. Tiawichi Creek rises in the Sexton Municipal town limits in northern Rusk County (at 32°16′ N, 94°54′ W). It formerly flowed northeast for sixteen miles to its mouth on Cherokee Bayou, five miles southwest of Easton. With the construction of Lake Cherokee in the late 1940s the lower four miles of the stream were inundated, and the stream now enters the lake just east of State Highway 322 (at 32°20′ N, 94°43′ W). It crosses flat to rolling terrain surfaced by sandy and clay loams that support water-tolerant hardwoods, conifers, and grasses.
